I am attaching a copy of an article from the Aunt Rhody webpage, which I hope will shed some light on the importance of taking notes during lessons to maximize your practice time at home. If you are going to spend the time practicing, it’s a much better use of your time to spend it doing things the correct way! I might also add that our cell phones can be a huge asset during lessons. Taking pictures of good posture and recording important parts of the lesson can be invaluable to you at home. My cell phone was indispensable last summer at institute! I am constantly going back and watching the videos I took of different lessons and listening to my instructor’s lectures on how to teach various songs and skills. Reviewing these recordings as well as my notes have allowed me to relive institute over and over. It has helped me take away so much more than I ever would have by listening and watching alone.
All this being said, a person can take excellent notes and still have questions about how something should go or look. Please feel free to contact me at anytime during the week if you have questions! If you're unsure about your child's posture, text me a picture. I can easily tell you if it looks good or what needs fixed. I am here for you and that includes the time in between lessons!
